about us
Baytus Salaam – formerly The Dacorum Bangladeshi Welfare Association (DBWA), based in Hemel Hempstead, was formed in 2005 with the primary aim of supporting the growing Bangladeshi community in the town.
We are a non-profit organisation and registered charity who have actively sought to bring together the community providing regular organised activities to cater for all genders and age groups. These activities include:
- Prayer space for over 200 worshippers and near 400 for Jummah (using the Highfield Community Centre)
- Education and religious learning
- Health and fitness facilities for men, women and children
- Support for new Muslims
- Nikaah (marriage) service for Islamic marriages
- Projects and services for the benefit of the community
The success and maturity of the organisation means that focus of the organisation is no longer limited to solely the Bangladeshi community. This led to the change in name in 2023 from The DBWA to Baytus Salaam. We welcome people from all backgrounds and there are now a significant member of people attending classes and events that are of Pakistani, Sri Lankan, Arab and various African heritage.
We are a family friendly and child friendly mosque and community space. There is a segragated prayer facility for sisters and children will always be welcomed warmly.
Our home is also available for use to the community for gatherings, classes, nikaah ceremonies and for anyone wanting to know more about us and Islam. Please contact us using details provided on the ‘Contact’ section.
